A breath of fresh air has come into the Melrose District of East Oakland for the community of youth. The Boys 2 Men Youth Outreach program on Fairfax Avenue gives to the youth a structured environment for them to get support and be trained in fundamental values. For the past twenty-one months; this program has been working with at-risk youth between the ages of five and fifteen to present alternatives to the negative environment surrounding them. This community is representative of many communities throughout the greater bay area that have been affected by; poverty level single parent families, high unemployment, gang violence, violent crimes, murder, dysfunctional families, drugs addiction, and truancy.
